Have you noticed black streaks on your roof? These black streaks are colonies of an algae-like bacteria called Gloeocapsa magma.

This bacterial fungus survives by actively eating your roof. 

Over time, Gloeocapsa magma will cause premature shingle aging/ or rotting which can lead to:
